News from 8th February, 2013 to 21st March, 2013

 

1.                  Celebrations :

a)     The Public Celebrations of Sri Sri Thakur, Maa and Swamiji were observed on 9th February, 2013. About 18000 devotees took prasadam. Students served the devotees from 11.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

b)     The Birthday of Swami Brahmanandaji Maharaj was celebrated on 12th February, 2013 at the Brahmananda Bhavana Shrine with special Puja, Homa and Sadhu Bhakta Seva.

c)     Saraswati Puja was celebrated on 14th & 15th February, 2013 with usual splendour.

d)     Shivaratri Puja was celebrated on 10th March, 2013 with Puja, Homa and Bhajana at the Brahmananda Bhavana Shrine.      

2.                  College News :

a)                 The Annual Netailal Ghosh Memorial Recitation Competition was held on 19th February, 2013. Sriman Somen Dutta (2nd Year, History), Sriman Aisik Bhattacharyya (2nd Year, Chemistry), Sriman Dilip Sahoo (2nd Year, History) stood  First, Second and Third respectively.

b)                 The Annual Music Competition was held on 19th February, 2013. The results of the competition are as follows :

c)                  On the occasion of the National Science Day Celebration on 28th February, 2013, Sriman Aisik Bhattacharya (2nd Year, Chemistry) stood second on the topic ‘Genetically Modified Crops is the solution for future food problems’ at Variable Energy & Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata.

d)                 Ashrama Praktan Chhatra Sangha, Narendrapur and Department of Physics jointly organised Seminar Lecture on 2nd March, 2013 at 2.00 p.m. at Room No. 2.27. The topic was “Higgs Boson Searches at Large Hadron Collider (LHC)”. Dr. Subir Sarkar and Dr. Suchanda Sarkar, Professors of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Kolkata (also associated with LHC Project, CFRN) delivered Seminar Lectures.

e)                 Mid-Semester Examination and Part III Test were held between 12th March, 2013 and 20th March, 2013

f)                    Under the Scheme of Special Assistance Programme (SAP, West Bengal Higher Education Department), college inspection was held on 12th March, 2013 at 10.30 a.m. The respectable designated authority from Bikash Bhavan met first with the Principal Maharaj and then with the non-teaching staff, students and teachers. Bursar accompanied him all the way.

g)                 The results of J.J. Goodwin Scholarship 2012-13 of Essay Writing Competition on Swami Vivekananda’s Vision of an Ideal Human Society are as follows :
